english version belowUnsere 6 Wochen in Athen sind nun leider vorbei und unsere Eindrücke vielfältig. Wir sind sehr viel Solidarität begegnet und haben die Realitäten gesehen, die diese Solidarität fundamental wichtig machen. Was uns ganz deutlich wurde, ist dass Menschen unter prekären Lebensbedingungen besonders hart von Krisen getroffen werden und das Corona da keine Ausnahme macht. Nachdem der griechische Sozialstaat erfolgreich zusammengespart wurde, sind die Auswirkungen in der Pandemie besonders zu spüren. Es hat uns überwältigt wieviele Bewohner*innen
Athens auf zivilgesellschaftliche Hilfe angewiesen sind. Wir haben von mindestens 8 aktiven Soliküchen in Athen erfahren, die jeweils 100- 2000 Essensportionen an Hungrige verteilen. Wir mussten, bei den Küchen in denen wir mitgearbeitet haben, öfter erleben, dass Leute weggeschickt wurden, weil es nichts mehr zu Essen gab und der Eindruck, dass es immer zu wenig ist, war stark. Wo schlafen all diese Menschen? Haben Sie genug zum Anziehen und Zudecken? Windeln, Seife, Spielzeug? Haben Sie Zugang zu medizinischer Versorgung? Haben Sie Papiere oder müssen sie zu alledem immer auf der Hut vor verständnislos agierenden Bürokraten und Schlägern des EU-Regimes sein?
Der Lockdown in Attica hat alle ohnehin schon katastrophalen Zustände nur noch verschlimmert. Für Menschen ohne Einkommen oder staatliche Grundversorgung geht es ums Überleben.

Die Genoss*innen in Athen haben uns aber auch noch einmal aufgezeigt, wie wichtig es ist, die Kämpfe gegen Faschismus und für das Recht auf Migration zu verknüpfen und wie wichtig der Austausch und die Solidarität mit den Betroffenen ist. Die griechische Linke geht uns mit gutem Beispiel voran und hat es an vielen Stellen geschafft, people on the move mitzudenken und sich mit ihnen zu verbünden. Die Schaffung von Wohnraum und die niederschwellig anknüpfbare Struktur von Soliküchen sind zentrale Elemente eines gemeinsamen Kampfes. Auch wenn der Staat
Vielen ein selbstbestimmtes Leben unmöglich macht, können trotzdem Räume
geschaffen werden, in denen alle Menschen ihr Leben aktiv mitgestalten und sich auf Augenhöhe begegnen können. In Athen diese wirklich diversen Zusammenschlüsse zu erleben hat sehr gut getan. Auch hier in Deutschland müssen people on the move zum Teil unter widrigsten Umständen ausharren oder werden in Abschiebegefängnissen ihrer elementarsten Rechte beraubt. Wir müssen es schaffen unsere Blockaden zu überwinden und auf Menschen zuzugehen, denn wir können
nicht frei sein, solange nicht alle frei sind!
Der 8. März in Griechenland, hat mit lila-bunter Wucht zum Ausdruck gebracht das Unterdrückung viele patriarchale Gesichter hat, die wir nur gemeinsam überwinden können:

In Athen fand zu diesem Anlass eine große, lautstarke Demo statt, bei der es auch einen großen „multinational bloc“ gab, zu dem unter anderem Solidarity with Migrants  aufgerufen hatte und bei dem viele Geflüchtete mitliefen. Im Camp Ritsona nördlich von Athen protestieren die Bewohner*innen außerdem aktuell für die Herausgabe ihrer Papiere.

Es vergeht leider kein Tag, an welchem die Festung Europa keine neuen Opfer fordert.
Der Eu-Türkei-Deal, der zu den desaströsen Züständen für Geflüchtete auf den griechischen Inseln geführt hat, trat vor 5 Jahren in Kraft.
Ein Jahr nachdem sich die faschistischen Kräfte Europas am türkisch, griechischen Grenzübergang am Fluss Evros versammelt haben und wahllos Geflüchtete und Journalist*innen angegriffen haben, wobei es mindestens zu 2 Toten kam, findet heute (20.3) eine große antirassisitische Demo in Athen statt. Es ist nur unsere Solidarität und unser gemeinschaftlicher Widerstand, die diese Zustände verändern können.
Gegen die faschistische Regierung von Mitsotakis und der „Neo Demokratia“ gewinnt dieser Widerstand ebenfalls an Stärke. Die Demonstrationen wurden in den letzten Wochen immer größer und kraftvoller und verbinden mehrere Themen.
Neben der Solidarisierung mit dem Hungerstreikenden Gefangenen Dimitris Koufontinas, der seinen Streik am 14. März, nach über 2 Monaten mit dieser Erklärung beendet hat* und den Studierenden Protesten gegen die Einführung von Polizeiwachen auf den Campussen, hat ein Fall von willkürlicher Polizeigewalt das Fass zum Überlaufen gebracht. 10 000de fanden sich trotz Lockdown und strikter Ausgangssperre auf den Straßen Athens und Thessalonikis ein und es kam zu heftigen
Auseinandersetzungen. Die Wut der von immer mehr Repression Betroffenen bricht sich Bahn. Wie tiefgreifend und schmerzlich die Einschnitte und Entwicklungen sind, lässt sich von uns nur erahnen. Nach Gesprächen mit lokalen Aktivist*innen, zeigt sich wie negativ sich alles durch die neue Regierung in nur eineinhalb Jahren verändert hat. Hierzu möchten wir euch den Film „Le Amour et la Revolution“ ans Herz legen.

Der Film ist von 2018 und zeigt lokale anarchistische Strukturen, deren solidarische Projekte und Kämpfe. Dieser Film wurde vor dem Machtantritt der ND fertiggestellt und zeigt damit wie es vor 3 Jahren war. Viele der darin erwähnten Projekte wurden Ende 2019 geräumt. Das alles passt sich ein, in eine neoliberale Politik der Oligarchen, die mit immer mehr Einsparungen die Not der kleinen Leute ständig größer macht, während sie sich gleichzeitig durch massive Aufrüstung von Polizei und Grenzschutz zu Europas Flaggschiff der Grenzsicherung stilisiert und die eigene Bevölkerung versucht im Zaum zu halten.

Gegen diese riesengroße Gesamtscheiße können wir leider nur wenig ausrichten. Aber auch nur ein bisschen ist besser als nichts…

Um nochmal auf unsere letzen Tage in Athen zurück zu kommen wir haben den angekündigten Schweißworkshop übers Wochenende hinaus ausgedehnt. Er hat sich
sowohl bei professionellen Schweißer*innen, die in Athen noch keinen Zugang zu ihrem Metier haben, als auch bei völligen Anfänger*innen auf großer Beliebtheit erfreut. Das Ergebnis kann sich auch sehen lassen.
Ausserdem haben wir weiter unseren Topf blubbern lassen und fast täglich ca. 120 Portionen Essen am Viktoria Square verteilt. Wir haben auch nochmal 1000 Kekse gebacken und wo immer möglich die lokalen Solistrukturen unterstützt. Außerdem hat Team Leipzig die 2. Ladung Paletten mit Sachspenden fertiggepackt, die nun auf ihrem Weg zum Khora Freeshop sind. Wir werden sobald möglich noch weitere Paletten nach
Griechenland senden, nächstes Mal voraussichtlich nach Thessaloniki zur Gruppe „Stop War on Migrants“.

Our 6 weeks in Athens are now unfortunately over and our impressions varied. We encountered a lot of solidarity and saw the realities that make this solidarity fundamentally important. What became very clear to us is that people in precarious living conditions are hit particularly hard by crises and that Corona is no exception. After the Greek welfare state was successfully cut together, the effects are particularly felt in the pandemic. We were overwhelmed by the number of residents of
Athens are dependent on civil society help. We learned of at least 8 active soup kitchens in Athens, each distributing 100-2000 portions of food to the hungry. In the kitchens we worked in, we often saw people being turned away because there was no food left, and the impression that there was always too little was strong. Where do all these people sleep? Do you have enough to dress and cover them? Diapers, soap, toys? Do you have access to medical care? Do you have papers, or on top of all that, do they always have to be on guard against uncomprehending bureaucrats and thugs of the EU regime?
The lockdown in Attica has only worsened all the already disastrous conditions. For people without income or basic state services, it is a matter of survival.

But the comrades in Athens have also shown us once again how important it is to link the struggles against fascism and for the right to migration and how important the exchange and solidarity with those affected is. The Greek left is leading us by example and has managed in many places to think along with people on the move and to ally with them. The creation of housing and the low-threshold structure of solikitchen are central elements of a common struggle. Even if the state
makes a self-determined life impossible for many people, spaces can still be created in which all
can be created in which all people can actively shape their lives and meet at eye level. Experiencing these truly diverse associations in Athens did a lot of good. Here in Germany, too, people on the move sometimes have to endure the most adverse conditions or are deprived of their most basic rights in deportation prisons. We have to overcome our blockades and reach out to people, because we cannot be free as long as not everyone is free!
The 8th of March in Greece has expressed with purple and colorful force that oppression has many patriarchal faces, which we can only overcome together:

In Athens, a large, loud demo took place on this occasion, which also included a large „multinational bloc“ called for by Solidarity with Migrants, among others, and which was joined by many refugees. One year after the fascist forces of Europe gathered at the Turkish-Greek border crossing at the river Evros and indiscriminately attacked refugees and journalists, leaving at least 2 dead, today (20.3) a big anti-racist demonstration is taking place in Athens. It is only our solidarity and community resistance that can change these conditions.
Against the fascist government of Mitsotakis and the „Neo Demokratia“ this resistance is also gaining strength. The demonstrations have become larger and more powerful in recent weeks, combining several themes.
In addition to solidarity with hunger-striking prisoner Dimitris Koufontinas, who ended his strike on March 14, after more than 2 months with this statement* and student protests against the introduction of police guards on campuses, a case of arbitrary police violence has been the straw that broke the camel’s back. 10,000s of people turned out on the streets of Athens and Thessaloniki despite the lockdown and strict curfew, and violent
clashes broke out. The anger of those affected by more and more repression broke out. We can only guess how profound and painful the cuts and developments are. After talking to local activists, we can see how negatively the new government has changed everything in just one and a half years. We would like to recommend the film „Le Amour et la Revolution“ to you.

The film is from 2018 and shows local anarchist structures, their solidarity projects and struggles. This film was finished before ND came to power and thus shows how it was 3 years ago. All this fits in, in a neoliberal policy of the oligarchs, which constantly increases the hardship of the little people with more and more savings, while at the same time stylizing itself as Europe’s flagship of border security by massively arming the police and border guards and trying to keep its own population in check.

Unfortunately, we can only do a little against this huge overall shit. But even a little is better than nothing…

To come back to our last days in Athens we have extended the announced welding workshop over the weekend. It has proved to be both professional welders, who do not have access to their profession in Athens yet, and complete beginners. The result is also impressive.

We also kept our pot bubbling and distributed about 120 servings of food almost daily in Victoria Square. We also baked another 1000 cookies and supported local solo structures wherever possible. Team Leipzig also finished packing the 2nd load of pallets with donations in kind, which are now on their way to the Khora Freeshop. We will send more pallets to Greece as soon as possible
Greece, next time probably to Thessaloniki to the group „Stop War on Migrants“.
